This bonus post for the week is simple: 3 things I like right now. I’d love to know what things you like right now, and what “thing” has made your life more simple or better recently in the comments. Now here goes:
1. Waze App
I commute twice a week into Fort Worth from about 35min west in Weatherford. Recently the traffic has been horrendous. I also sometime run people to the airport which is an hour away from home (one way). I’ve come to understand that if ways tells me to go down a weird neighborhood road instead of the interstate, it’s probably because of a major wreck. This app has saved my sanity a few times recently, and then there have been a few times when not using it has cause me to sit on I-20 for 30 minutes watching the bugs in the median… I suggest you listen to this app.
2. Mountain Biking
I often need a mental break from my work which is mostly brain-type work. Now that it is November, Texas is NOT HOT. In fact, NOT HOT is my favorite season in Texas. So I’ve tried out a few new-to-me mountain bike parks and enjoyed navigating trails and jumps and other features. Mountain Biking requires enough mental focus that I cannot actually think about my list of things to do, or who is struggling with something - or anything except not hitting that rock in front of me. I find it relaxing. Plus, I sleep really well after getting tired. Mountain Biking may not be your thing, but I recommend you find something to rest your mind.
3. Legacy Standard Bible
I’ve really come to appreciate this Bible translation recently. It’s much better than the NASB 2020 in my opinion. I was left frustrated with the 2020 NASB, and then a friend recently suggested this revision of the 1995 NASB called the Legacy Standard Bible. It’s great. It removes some of the archaic language that was still present in the 1995 version, but avoids some of the pitfalls of the 2020 version. I’m not going into my issues with it here. Anyway if you want a cheap test version of the LSB, you can use my affiliate amazon link if you want to purchase this under $17 hardback copy.
Conclusion
What have I missed? What things do you recommend? Let me know in the comments! If you enjoyed this post, please subscribe to get my free posts each week.
Also about Waze: it provides a smooth interface with several audio apps (music, podcasts, audiobooks) so that the navigation comes through without being clipped by apps warning for the audio space.
Mrs R swears by Waze, the ability to flag serious issues on the road or journey is fantastic. thanks for sharing!
